Jean and Keith Hiking |
Keith's parents had not been to Colorado in a year so they decided to come and spend a long weekend in June.
They arrived on the Thursday night - Keith picked them up after work and then headed back to the house for a fantastic dinner of salad, mussels, and sweet potato fries. Friday was a regular working day for us - while Keith's parents borrowed the 4Runner and met Margaret's friend Kelly for lunch at the
House of Commons - Kelly was able to regale Jean and Dick with her recent trip to climb
McKinley. On Friday night, Keith treated everyone to dinner at
Mizuna as Dick's Fathers Day gift - we all thought the dinner was one of our best meals in Denver. We all had the 5 course tasting menu with wine pairing - paired by one of the best sommeliers we have ever had.

Denver Botanic Gardens |
On Saturday, we all did a a few laps around the park in the morning, then went to the
Botanic Gardens in the afternoon where Keith's dad took lots of flower photos and Shawna got a few ideas of additional plants to plant in our yard. It was a hot day so we decided to see the movie
Kings of Summer which was really quite cute. We had dinner later that night at
Beatrice and Woodsley - which Keith bought again because he lost a bet to Jean on how high McKinley was (Keith thought it was over 20,000 - he was wrong!).

Hike in Matthew Winters Park |
|
Beso De Arte |
On Sunday, we decided to hike the
Matthew Winters Park Trail near Red Rocks - we completed it in about four hours and then headed to Morrison for lunch at
Beso De Arte - it was a delicious meal outside. After coming home for a shower we headed over to Cherry Creek Mall to see
The Great Gatsby which was not quite as good as the original. Since we had eaten a large lunch, we had a light salad for dinner back at the house.
Keith took Jean and Dick to the airport Monday morning as he also had a flight to New York early that morning. Unfortunately his parents were stuck in the Denver airport for 12 hours since their flight was delayed throughout the day - a bit of a crummy end to a fun weekend!
