John and JoAnna Visit - St Patricks Weekend - March 2016

Max's Taphouse
We decided to celebrate St Patricks with John and JoAnna in our new town of Baltimore.  The weekend was filled with drinking and eating (many crab themed dishes) while squeezing in a few tourist activities.

John and Jo arrived on Thursday night and after picking them up at the airport, we gave them a quick tour of the house and then proceeded over to Bo Brooks to have a few beers at the tiki bar and to eat steamed crabs.  We tried the crabby pretzel as an appetizer which was quite tasty.

On Friday, Keith worked for a half day while John, JoAnna and Shawna walked along the harbor all the way to Federal Hill and back.  We toured the American Visionary Art Museum which has quite a few funky exhibits.  On the way home, we stopped at Thames Street Oyster House for lunch - Shawna had the lobster chop salad while John and JoAnna shared the lobster mac-n-cheese and the fried clam roll.  After a nap back at home, we went over to Canton square to try a few of the bars including Claddagh, Looney's Pub and Speakeasy Saloon.  We ran into the bartender from Bo Brooks so we invited him to have a few beers with him.  We snacked throughout the evening (crabby fries were very tasty) while also watching some of the basketball games.  John and Keith left during the halftime of the UVA game while Shawna and JoAnna watched the remaining part of the game and then danced for a while before heading home around 1am (stopping first for some gelato at the grocery store).

On Saturday, we all slept in and then took a walk over to Harbor East.  We stopped for lunch at The Point in Fells - crabby tots were pretty good as were the roasted cauliflower but we were not wowed by the rest of the food.  John was not feeling great so we returned home to watch a movie (Spotlight) followed by a nap.  That evening, we left a little later and hung out in Fells Point - stopping at Cat's Eye Pub, Max's Taphouse, Slainte Irish Pub and Bartenders.  We ate dinner and watched the games at Max's - the goals was not to eat anything with crab and we accomplished that goal.

On Sunday, we slept in again and then met Marcie, a friend of JoAnna's, for brunch at Langermann's. The food was pretty tasty and they have a nice brunch special.  After catching up with Marcie, we went back home and watched another movie (Beast of No Nation) and then the Michigan State game.  We originally intended to watch the parade but it was cold and rainy so we opted to stay in.  We then drove John and JoAnna to the airport.
