Chez Dodds - The Scottsdale Edition |
With Keith's offer at The Wolff Company, we were moving to Scottsdale! We had
found the house the weekend before Keith started his job and were able to move in two months later. The moving truck had loaded in Baltimore and then took a week to get to Scottsdale. Keith had been in Seattle for work but flew in Wednesday night to meet the movers on the Thursday. Shawna had been in the area since Sunday, working out of a hotel.
We woke up at 6am as we were to meet the movers at the house at 8am. It worked out really well that the company transporting the 4Runner called us at 6:30 to let us know they were ready to meet us. So we wrapped up breakfast quickly and met the driver behind Home Depot and got to the house by 7:30 - with the truck arriving at 8am sharp.
Along with the driver there were three other guys helping unload - as well as unpack. Shawna had insisted that we pay for the unpacking which was one of the best decisions of the move - it really expedited the process. Amazingly the entire house was unpacked and all the boxes carted off by 3pm. The rest of the day was spent getting the kitchen, office, and bedroom unpacked and organized. In order to cool off at the end of the day, we jumped in the pool for the first time - we are so excited to have that amenity at our house!
Both of us had to work Friday morning but Keith was able to leave at 1pm. We had several vendors lined up to come to the house that day and also worked on more of the rooms. On Saturday morning, we cranked out the rest of the house, with everything complete other than the pictures on the walls. We managed to get a lot of errands completed in the afternoon - including buying new patio furniture.
On Sunday, we caught up on administrative items and put up all the pictures - so we are now locals!
